- After Effects is simply letting you know that the project or template you're opening was created in an older version of After Effects, and that it will convert it to whatever version of After Effects you're currently using. The Solution Click OK. After having worked in After Effects for over 10 years, these are the most common errors I've come across.
- AE is working fine now. I tried opening it as administrator and it's a miracle that it worked. But thanks for the reply. Yes, i already checked C: Program Files Adobe Adobe After Effects CS5 Support Files and i didn't see anything wrong there.
I use a AMD Radeon™ HD 6850 Graphics card
When it crashes this comes up:
Last log message was: <140735275870560> <GPUManager> <2> Sniffer Result Code: 3
I've tried going through Adobe, and they said they had a hackintosh beta tester that had a problem but didn't investigate it. Other than that, they keep saying to talk to the Hack community.
That's all I got. Ideas are VERY welcome.
Thanks,
Gavin
Adobe After Effects or Adobe Premiere Pro crashes or hangs soon after starting. The message 'Initializing MediaCore' appears in the startup screen.
As is true for most errors, begin by performing the general troubleshooting steps in the following documents:
Solution 1: Enable TCP communication through firewall or related software.
In the settings for your firewall software, allow connections to be made to and from the following applications:
Windows:

- AfterFX.exe
- Adobe QT32 Server.exe
- dynamiclinkmanager.exe
- PProHeadless.exe

Mac OS:
- Adobe After Effects 10.0
- Adobe QT32 Server
- dynamiclinkmanager
- Adobe Premiere Pro CS5
Note: Process names on Mac OS differ with version numbers.
For instructions for enabling connections, see the documentation for your firewall software.
Adobe After Effects CS5 and Adobe Premiere Pro CS5 use TCP to communicate with the QuickTime server (Adobe QT32 Server) and Dynamic Link manager. Some firewall software (such as ZoneAlarm) blocks this communication, mistaking it for a security threat. The communication between these components is limited to the local computer, which is enough for most firewall software to recognize the communication as safe. Some firewall software, however, requires that connections to these components are explicitly allowed.
If communication between these components fails, the application can hang while waiting for a response, or even crash.
In some cases, the application continues to function when communication is blocked, but the application mistakenly reports that QuickTime is not installed. This error occurs because the application can't communicate with QuickTime and therefore concludes that it is not present.
Solution 2: Remove third-party QuickTime importers and exporters.
The initialization process can fail if QuickTime gets stuck while attempting to load a bad third-party importer component.
Remove all third-party QuickTime importers and exporters from the Library/QuickTime directory and restart the application.
